CPM Covid Bulletin #23

CPM Covid Bulletin #23

Since our last Bulletin, there have been a number of changes so we would like to take this opportunity to update you.

Public Health Orders

The Public Health Orders, which were originally set to expire on January 8th, were extended until January 22nd, 2021.

“The current public health orders – which have been in place for over two months – were put in place to halt the spread of this deadly virus and save lives,” said Pallister. “These orders are working, thanks to the willingness of Manitobans to follow them.   At the advice of Dr. Roussin and our health care leaders, we are now in a position to consider reducing some restrictions and safely restoring our services and activities that so many Manitobans have sacrificed throughout this pandemic in order to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their community.”

The province has launched a survey on EngageMB.ca and invites Manitobans to share feedback on their priorities for potential easing of the current COVID-19 restrictions. The survey asks questions about people’s perspectives on the risk of the virus, COVID-19 vaccines and their comfort levels with different activities.

COVID-19 Mental Health Resources

It is important that during this time, we are all cognitive about our mental health. Below are some resources which were shared with us by CPM Registrant Katie Dyck – Thank you Katie for sharing!

Mental health resources for health-care workers and the public

This page has a variety of resources including recorded information sessions (booster sessions) on coping during the pandemic and a self-care pocket card with excellent practical tips on staying mentally healthy. Although Registrants may not be able to physically register for some of the “booster sessions’ (if they are not part of Shared Health), the sessions are always recorded and posted online afterwards.

Mental Health & Wellness Resource Finder

This page is organized based on five levels of coping which can be selected to target a list of practical hands-on resources for both adults and youth. The resources are provincial in scope supporting both urban and rural Manitobans.

CPM would like to take this opportunity to thank all the physiotherapists in Manitoba who are helping in the fight against COVID-19.  We know that many registrants have been seconded to do other jobs, who are working 14 hour shifts in the hospitals or traveling to remote communities to administer vaccines. THANK YOU.

As always, stay safe, stay healthy.

Brenda
