FOR PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

Practice Reflection Resources

The Practice Reflection component of the College of Physiotherapist’s of Manitoba’s Continuing Competence Program (CCP) has 4 steps.

Step 1: Develop and maintain your professional portfolio

The portfolio is your collection of evidence of your learning and professional activities from year to year. It is your documentation of learning activities and a description of your learning outcomes. It must include a copy of each of your Learning Plan Goal Sheets, Activities Tracking Sheets, and Accomplishment Statement Sheets from the prior 5 years.

Step 2: Complete your annual learning plan

Developing and completing a learning plan based on your own context of practice will demonstrate to yourself and to CPM that you are reflecting on your practice and developing strategies that will benefit the user(s) of your service. You need to identify and describe two learning goals on the Learning Plan Goal Sheets provided by CPM that you can achieve within one calendar year.

Step 3: Track your learning activities

Once you have described your two learning goals for the coming year, you need to track your achievement of those goals by using the Learning Activities Tracking Sheet. You will be expected to think about and reflect in writing about your professional development activities and how they may have enhanced, impacted or confirmed your own current context of practice.

Step 4: Complete your related accomplishment statements

After you complete your Learning Goals and Activities Tracking Sheets, you then need to think about and reflect on your learning, the impact and whether or not your indicators of success were met (why or why not). Active reflection helps you continue to self-assess and ensure your learning is relevant to your practice. Completion of the Accomplishment Statement Sheets provided by CPM can be done at any time but must be finished by January 31 of any given year.
